Read the following instructions carefully before filling out the CAP application form. No further corrections to data obtained/filled in the CAP 2026 application form will be entertained after submitting the CAP-2026 application form. Please take adequate care of this before submitting the application form.
Stage I: Submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the program, subject to the respective percentile cut-offs.
Stage II: Based on the EOIs received in Stage I, candidates will be further shortlisted for Stage II. Shortlisted candidates will be required to pay the application fee and select a PI slot based on availability.
The shortlisted candidates in stage II, have to pay the requisite Application fee as per the category:
General/NC-OBC/EWS: Rs. 2000
SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 1000
Selection/Opting of MBA programs: Candidates can select the MBA programs of all three IIMs in the CAP application form. Based on these selections, their candidature will be considered by the respective IIMs. If a candidate does not select the MBA program of a particular IIM, their candidature will not be considered by that IIM.
Selection/Opting of specialized MBA programs: Additionally, some IIMs offer specialized MBA programs in addition to the core MBA programs. Candidates interested in any such programs must select the respective programs in the CAP application form. The candidates are requested to check the eligibility criteria and other required details applicable to the program on their website.
In the CAP application, candidates must opt for three different cities (in order of preference, in stage I to appear in the PI process.
Date-Slot booking: The date-slot portal will open after the closure of the CAP application as per the timeline. Candidates will be able to select the date and slot for the allotted city in the following manner: If there are vacant seats for the first preferred city, they will get the option of selecting a date slot for that only. If there is no vacant seat for the first preferred city, they will get such options for the second preferred city, and so on. If there are no vacant seats for the second and the third preferred city, then all such cities would be available on the portal where there are vacant seats. They will select any one of these cities. Further, the selection window for date slots would be available.
The above-mentioned Date-Slot Booking will be available on a First Come, First Serve basis. However, if any candidate does not book a date slot during the stipulated time, the system may allot the date slot automatically (random allocation of date slot) if and only if the application fees has been paid by the candidate.
Note for document upload: Please note that all documents must be uploaded (Size - Maximum 1.5 MB and File formats - .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .pdf), and if there are multiple documents to upload in a particular field, candidates should make a single file including all of those documents to upload in the portal.
Instructions regarding data to be filled and documents to be uploaded in the CAP Application:
Example A: If Maximum Marks = 600. Total Marks Obtained = 421, then Aggregate Percentage = 70.16666. This needs to be rounded down to 70.16.
Example B: If Maximum Marks = 600. Total Marks Obtained = 416, then Aggregate Percentage = 69.33333. This needs to be rounded down to 69.33.
Please select the professional degree/s you have obtained from the list of professional degrees, such as CA, ICWA, CS, etc.
1. Work experience will only be counted after the completion of a bachelor's (UG) degree. Since work experience is linked with the completion of a bachelor's (UG) degree, candidates with more than one bachelor’s degree must carefully select the primary bachelor's (UG) degree. The starting date of the work experience date can’t be before the completion of the primary bachelor (UG) degree.
2. Only Full-time remunerative experience after graduation must be entered. Part-time/ Project/ Internship/ training/ apprenticeship/ Article-ship / Pre-graduation work experience must not be entered and will not be counted as work experience. Candidates must not enter any experience obtained as part of the eligibility degree (bachelor’s degree or professional degree as applicable).
3. Work-experience data till 31st December 2025 will be considered for CAP 2026 and further admission processes. Therefore, kindly fill in the related data and upload the documents in the CAP 2026 portal accordingly.
4. Please merge the individual files for a single work experience into a single file and upload it to the website.
5. Documents required for experience as an employee:
5a.The Joining/appointment letter, the first two salary slips, the last two salary slips, and the relieving letter are required for all the past organizations/companies the applicant has worked with. The joining/appointment letter and the relieving letter must be on the company letterhead with the seal and signature of the competent authority.
5b. A bank account statement for the employment period is mandatory for candidates. The salary must be transferred from the firm’s bank account to the employee’s bank account. At least one additional statutory document, such as an EPF statement/ ESIC statement/ NPS statement/ Form 16, are necessary for the verification of the work experience.
5c. Experience, as an employee, earned without salary or with a cash salary will not be considered.
5d. UPI-based transfers, irregular payments, salaries received in a joint account, and cash deposits into accounts would not be accepted as valid work experience.
6. Documents required for experience as an entrepreneur:
6a. In case the candidate is a proprietor, partner, or director of a firm, the candidate has to provide the document proof such as the income tax return and other regulatory return filings for the relevant period and a certificate of registration for doing a business from the registrar of companies or municipal corporation (or other sector-specific licenses) and appropriate authorities such as MSME certificate issued by Govt. of India, Udyog Aadhar Registration Certificate, Partnership deed of the firm duly signed by all partners and GST registration certificate.
Different IIMs may have work experience criteria in their Admission Policies. You are requested to visit the respective IIMs website in this regard.
Candidates can use an existing valid (NC-OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwD) certificate issued by the issuing authority in any format. If a format is needed, a candidate can use the format provided on the CAP website's landing page under the Download section. Candidates should preferably upload the PDF of the digitally issued certificate.
Correction Request:
If any changes are required in the data submitted in CAT 2025 for the 10th or 12th /Diploma, kindly fill the same in the appropriate section of the CAP 2026 portal and upload the updated document in the corresponding section. For Bachelor’s/Master’s/Professional Qualifications, data is sought afresh in the CAP-2026 application form.
Please ensure that the correct data is provided in the CAP 2026 application form, as no further change request will be entertained after submitting the CAP 2026 application form.
Apart from 10th/ 12th/ Diploma/ Bachelor's/ Master's/ Professional related educational qualifications, no other information change request/s for data submitted in CAT-2025 will be permitted.

The candidates are allowed to submit the EOI in stage I and if shortlisted for stage II, they can appear in offline Personal Interview (PI ) based on data/documents submitted by them.However, fulfilling the eligibility criteria, appearance in PI , and subsequent consideration of candidature do not indicate the confirmation of admission. The confirmation of admission is subjected to due verification of documents and validation of profile scores (academic and work experience) carried out during the registration process (i.e., after the provisional admission offer acceptance).
IIMs reserve the right to authenticate supporting documents and reject the candidature of any applicant in case any forged/misleading/discrepant data/document is found at any time, even after the provisional admission.
The CAP 2026 is a joint initiative of three IIMs to conduct PI. The processes, academic cut-offs, and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. For more information, refer to the admission policies of individual IIMs on their respective websites.
